I like making art.. but I also just like…making. A lot of its not art, it’s just for fun. I figured I would put those things here, in this post, so they get a little love. Lots of times it’s just a special request from someone, or a personalized gift, or just a idea I wanted to try. So sit back and check out the stuff I make when I’m not being “artistic”!

A Coffee pot Top /Dec 1

This was a 30$ coffee pot lid, for a 20$ coffee pot, that will cost 50$ to ship to Germany. (LOL). This is my version of school though. I did three things here that I have technically never done before! I’ve never designed a 3D object in onshape before, I have never 3D printed my own object, I have never made a plaster mold. So many places to fail, yet I succeeded.. miracles do exist. 🙂

Memorial for a tree /Nov 25

My SO’s sister had planted a willow tree years ago in the yard behind her house in Illinois. Unfortunately, it was planted slightly over the property line, and the developer/city that wanted to modify the land had no sympathy whatsoever. It was a real loss to her family, (and no real benefit to the developer). This laser cut is a memorial to that willow tree. It will be a Christmas gift.

RIP Sniffle Dickens / Nov 16

Pets dying sucks. We will miss you Princess Sniffle Dickens. May you rest in peace. You were a very good Cat.

Cactus Contraption /Nov 5

The Cactus needed some support! What else was I supposed to do? 🙂 Its adjustable, so we can slowly raise the arm.

My Red Hannah designed a touchmark brand Icon. /Sept 18

Red Hannah saw my touchmark, and wanted one of her own! so she made this design, a amalgam of two things she loves, D&D (the 20 sided die) and sunflowers! I thought it was an awesome design! So I made it out of copper, and recycled and stained fence board (cedar) for her.

Address for a friend. Sept /12

Really, this turned out very nice with the colors in the background, don’t you think? They said they loved it. <3

Untitled Art from my son Rockwell / Aug 30

My son is an actual artist. I took this piece from his portfolio, and turned it into a vector to be cut. It turns out it makes a wonderful stencil! I’m looking forward to raiding his portfolio in the future. You can find his portfolio at https://www.instagram.com/yougotme.2/

Church Ditch Marker /Aug 29

We live next to the Church ditch. Its a very old irrigation ditch that has quite a history. It was hand dug in the 1800s! absolutely amazing.. in this hard earth of ours here in Colorado. But thousands of people drive over it each day, without knowing what waterway they are driving over. So I figured our historical ditch needed a marker, so people would know. The material I used was some scrap tin corrugated roofing that I flattened out on a English wheel.

Golden Maker space show-n-tell / Aug 13

Met a gentleman at the Clear Creek maker space named Nathan Atkins , He is trying to collect a group of like minded people in the Golden Co area at the facebook page “Golden Makers“.. It reminds me of many years ago when a group of good friends and I created “the clubhouse” in Augusta Ga! I hope we can recreate that, because it was an awesome group of people!
I figured I would whip up a sign real quick for the meeting (it was happening the day After I found out about it! lol. This is an example of learning, and good example of “Finished is better than perfect’.. I learned that you should not use an upcut router blade while carving plywood.. It’s all good! Thats what learning is about! Kep on making! mistakes and all!

A chair. More like a stool. / Aug 10

My SOs daughter said she would like to make a chair for her dorm apartment, that would be suitable for sitting at a coffe table.. Short chair? Stool? something like that! She picked out a design on Etsy, and paid the 4$ for the design, and we cut it out! We modifed it by shortening the legs, and cutting out the back to insert a little southwestern scene. (remember that design from the “cowboys and indians” series?) She sanded it and stained it. I clearcoated it and cut out the scene in the plasma cutter and installed.
I think it worked out just right.

Novelli Split Font Monogram / July 24

This was a commission for my sister. My great nephew is getting married this year! She wanted to make something special for them for a wedding gift. I was happy to oblige. /love/

kokopelli Windspinner / May 24

THis was a request from my SOs daughter that goes to CU. She wanted to hang it from her balcony in her dorm.:) I was happy to oblige!

CU WarFighters / July 24

This was a special request from my Friend Tyler at Colorado University, A leader of the @Buffalo_warfightering_chapter. I believe he is a recruiter in the military, but I dont know his official station. But I was happy to rcreate one of these for him before he left town to move east. Safe Travels Tyler.

We the 66 / June 24

“we the 66” is a podcast put out by Rocanews. MY SO’s daughter is a big fan, so she designed this, we routed it out, and we sent it to the podcaster guys (that she knows evidently).. I hope they liked it!

Tessellated Kitties / May 24

This one was just a “for fun” one. I don’t even know what I will do with them, but I thought they were cute. One Idea I had was to customize them for people that had cats.. each with the name of one of their cats, assuming they had more than one… 🙂

Herzing / May 24

This was a belated birthday present for my SO’s sister. It was also a practice in inlaying metal into wood.. I still have some practice to do. lol. The cool thing about this is, that dragon image was generated via AI.. it is the first time I have incorporated that into my work!

Second Wind / June 24

Second wind is the name of a Boat! A friend is out sailing as I type this, and she wanted to make something special for her hosts.. I thought this was a great idea! its steel over wood. Happy sailing!

Peacock farewell / June 24

Our tenants are moving out of our farmhouse that we rent.. they were really good tenants, and never complained about the peacocks being all over the place at the farmhouse. I thought I would make some cutouts with a note of farewell on the back. Good bye Emma and Nick! it was nice knowing you!

Duck Brackets / June 24

This was a fun one.. My daughter said she was helping her other to make some shelves for her rubber duck collection.. it was funny.. she called and said “dad.. I’m at the hardware store.. why are shelf brackets so expensive??” lol.. she just needed some short ones, but many of them.. (there are a lot of ducks!) So I figured this would be a good opportunity to make some! I think they turned out GREAT! Heck, I might even consider marketing these to the niche duck collecting community! lol!
