I saw the old love scuplture by Robert Indiana recently, and thought Id like to reproduce it. I cut it out of 3/8 steel, and realized I could use it as a mold!

This image was pressed into some copper scrap from an old TV transmitter in South Carolina, and was mounted on a cedar shake from the delapadated homestead I found in a Leyden CO. foothills of the Rockies.
I cant get over these cedar shakes. First, the story they must hold, having protected this house for so many years.. they weathering on them is amazing. The other thing is, how unbeleiveably tight the grain is on them! Not kidding, I counted 450(!) rings on just one section f the shake. the tree this came from had to be AT LEAST that old.. Im estimating potentially twice that old or older. IMAGINE.

I think I might make this a “LOVE” series. It will be fun.
